Today is not so great

Also, Letting Agents are the scum of the universe. Serving me notice to quit in order to get me to pay your exorbitant resigning fees and lock me in for another year are the acts of a fucking scumbag.

Oh, I know it's standard. But it's sham status has at least a sliver of a chance of rendering it questionably legal, particularly in that it also says "please send us notice with 14 days if you want to stay on - this doesn't bind us to anything".

Charging me £85 for printing out a piece of paper is also questionably legal under the UCCTR 1999. Unfortunately if I fight any of it, I risk having to find a new place in the middle of a highly stressful degree.

I think my point is that the fact that what they're indulging in is industry standard practice is actually evidence in support of my assertion that letting agents are scum.

This behaviour is something that was foreseen and shouted about by tenants' pressure groups at the time of the legislation, but airily waved aside by the then govt. Who were also scum.
