Shards, as usual, totally kicked arse. Cait was muchly harshed, fought a magical duel, and I got to love the traum again. I'm such a drama queen at heart.

That's the nice thing about Shards though. The refs are good at making sure everyone gets their turn to take the Limelight. I'm also adjusting to a more grown up style of roleplay where players are given collective responsibility for making a good story, rather than being simply reactive. It means you have to have more courage than the GM lead approach, but it pays off well. I'm not saying we create great art or anything, but it's a lot of fun, and gives me the kind of satisfaction I was only able to get from NPCing in Camarilla games.

Obviously it means that Shards as a system is a lot easier for a bad player to undermine - and yet they don't. I'm not really sure why. Possibly because the culture doesn't support powergaming. Character advancement is very slow (but definitely happens) and the whole culture of the game revolves around creating a dramatic performance in a way that just wouldn't interest a powergamer.

Tired now, and aching. Time for sleep, I think.
