One of the things that keeps me busy is trying to devise the ultimate system for providing cat food. Where ultimate is defined in terms of Merlin not nosing out the fluffs and eating all of their food. This is more a war of attrition than anything that can actually be accomplished, and as a result, the cats are now used to the food being put down in two bowls at the opposite ends of the kitchen.
This used to keep Merlin and Nineve occupied with the first bowl while Cirrus and Sirrocco got to nibble away at the second one. Unfortunately Merlin eventually cottoned on to the fact that more food was being put down and simply moved bowls to the second one when it was put down. Sirrocco has become stoical about this, and seems happy enough to share a bowl with Nineve when he's actually hungry. (Sirrocco is more of a grazer, and there is always dry food available.) Cirrus, however, usually ends up looking wistfully at the food as Merlin and Nineve much away at the seperate bowls.
Anyway, this is all a rather long winded way of getting to today's story, wherein I decided sod it, I'll just put both bowls down near to each other. Neither Cirrus nor Merlin touched the second bowl until I picked it up and moved it to its customary place, despite me pointing Cirrus directly at it. Cats are very odd sometimes.
