The eyes are the windows of the soul
Dec. 8th, 2008 12:02 amHad a lazy (for which read) exhausted weekend, but
markbanang and I did make it down to "The House of Books has no Windows", the current exhibition at Modern Art Oxford. I'm a very non-visual person. It's hard to make art that connects with me. I think it helps that a lot of these installations are multimedia pieces, and despite being made over a period of years, they all seem to share some qualities, notably the ability to instil an uneasy sense of voyeurism, and a fascination with decay and obsolescence. If you haven't seen it, I recommend doing so before it leaves Oxford on Jan 17th. Be warned that some of the pieces are on a timed loop, and therefore I'd recommend allowing at least a couple of hours. (We only got to see 3 and a half of the 5 exhibits in the hour to hour and a half we were there, and will be going back to finish off another day.)
