Merlin's new trick

The evil one has taken to picking up the Yellow Duster of Doom (aka favourite cat toy) in his mouth and then leaping into a packing crate. He then comes and meeps loudly, either to display proudly his acrobatic skills, or, I think more likely, because he's not entirely sure how to get out of the packing crate and wants to be lifted out.

...we have a packing crate?

Plenty of them. The contain detritous remaining from moving. Call them "archive boxes" if that's your kink.

Alternatively, acknowledge your admiration at the cleverness of the cat. Then sit down with a beverage of your choice whilst he attempts to exit the packing case/archive box.

This is a scientific experiment which will reveal whether or not he is capable of getting out on his own.

Ah, but is the cat in the box dead or alive?

My proposed experiment will not reveal this.

As the box is not sealed, it should be able to ascertain the animal's degree of animation by observation.

I've left him in there in the past and he seems to have got out. I speculate that he can do it, but is too lazy to approve of the strenous jumping involved. (You have to understand that Merlin climbs up things by dragging himself bodily over them in preference to actually jumping. This is because he is very lazy.)

I wish I had a small trampoline.

I wish you had a small trampoline - see my response to [livejournal.com profile] robinbloke's comment.

I love the small trampoline idea. I have had quite an entertaining few minutes imagining the evil one and his surprise at finding himself bounced up in the air more times than a few.
