I should go to sleep, but the BBC's live updating Election web thing is proving strangely hypnotic. It's like this enormous game of ProgressQuest that's happening for real.

Naturally because I need to be in Headingdon at 2 and in town at 7, I can't sleep tonight.

Anyone in Oxford have a bed/sofa I can borrow for an hour or two this afternoon?

So just exactly how badly does a party have to misbehave in order to get chucked out ignonimously by the oh so apathetic British electorate?

Lib Dems have just got over 50 seats, so some cheerful news at least.

Still no result in Henley, but two (proportionally) larger swings towards the Lib Dems have already happened. Please, can I not have a frothing lunatic as my MP any more?

ETA There goes Henley. Arse. Looks like a whole bunch of labour voters defected to mad Boris. WTF?

I didn't think it was a bad effort, and certainly had its moments. I liked Alan Rickman as Marvin and Bill Nighy at Slartibartfaast. The Vogons looked cool, but most of the 'innovations' seemed a bit pointless. (What the hell was going on with those slappy things?) It looked nice, but I couldn't for the life of me understand why they took most of the jokes out. The Guide was also somehow uninspiring, without the charm of the TV series animations. It was nice to watch for nostalgia's sake, but in general didn't really live up to the earlier incarnations. I remember Hitchhiker's as causing me to lose it with laughter. This film barely raised a giggle, although that may be at least partly because all of the best jokes were already very familiar.
