Cost of replacing "must replace" books that Merlin peed on - $20.00
Cost of postage to have said books sent from the USA - $40.00
Fact that I am still providing said cat with cuddles - totally inexplicable
Some things in life are irreplaceable. You're pretty much guaranteed that the cat will pee on them at some point.

On the bright side, Diana Wynne Jones "Skiver's Guide" was a near miss. This is a DWJ so obscure that most DWJ *fans* haven't heard of it. Fortunately also, the peeing appears to have happened months ago, and is unlikely to be subject to repeat performance, Merlin being somewhat more circumspect about his bodily functions these days.

One of [livejournal.com profile] k425's cats peed on her divorce Decree Absolute.

'My Varley collection! He's pissed on my entire Varley collection! I'm going to wring his fluffy little neck! Why am I fluffing him?! Why am I giving him cuddles?!'

Next time I want anything from you, I'm so getting Merlin to ask for it :)

That depends whether or not you explain what 'conchestrophe' means.

I have no particular moral qualms about hurting you until you explain.

*worry* I haven't heard of Skiver's Guide. I thought the only ones I didn't have (apart from a couple I haven't got round to picking up yet like Wild Robert) were Chair Person and Changeover. (Though it now turns out Chair Person's in Stopping For A Spell, which I thought I had. Oddness.) So, anyway, what's Skiver's Guide, and where can I get it?

It's what it sounds like. A guide to how to slack off at school, in the home, wherever. I got my copy by buying it somewhere over 20 years ago I know of no other way to obbtain a copy, although you could try http://www.abebooks.co.uk/, http://www.alibris.com/, and http://www.ebay.com/

Ah, I'd already had a quick look at abebooks and ebay. alibris I hadn't come across before, but it looks like I could spend money quite easily there! Cheers.

There is no cabal and it does not travel inter-continentally, nor can it collectively on request take delivery of books and carry them from the USA to the UK.
I, however, leave the USA tomorrow.
