Ladies and gentleman, for your delight and delectation, we proudly present the Richard Sharpe Televisual Interlude drinking game.

For those unfamiliar with the format of such things, the game consists of a list of forfeits which must be taken when the listed event appears on the screen during the showing of any of the nine Sharpe TV movies. If multiple conditions are met at once, all forfeits must be taken cumilatively. The winner is, erm, whoever can stand up and walk home afterwards, or something. A ready supply of booze is required, and participants are expected to recharge empty glasses. Beer would be the tipple most in keeping with the theme, although hard-core drinkers may substitute brandy at their discretiion.

Take one sip if
  • Sharpe takes his shirt off
  • Sharpe rescues a lady from peril
  • Sharpe kisses the damsel-du-jour
  • Harper lies to Sharpe
  • Sharpe's CO does something stupid
  • Sharpe is rude to an officer
  • An officer / aristocrat does something caddish
  • Harper mentions Ireland
  • Hogan says something sarcastic

Take two sips if:
  • Harper makes tea
  • Hagman mentions best brown paper and vinegar
  • Someone challenges someone else to a duel
  • Hagman makes an impossible shot
  • Tongue preaches the word of the Lord
  • Harris quotes anything or mentions Voltaire
  • A frenchman who is wearing a silly hat is introduced
  • Ramona is annoyed with Harper
  • Sharpe is denied a promotion
  • Fredrickson removes his wig or his teeth
  • An enlisted man collapses while marching

Take three sips if:
  • Wellesley / Wellington sends Sharpe into extreme danger
  • Sharpe punches someone
  • Sharpe gazes back over his shoulder
  • Three rounds a minute are fired
  • Someone backs down from a duel with Sharpe
  • Someone is made a Chosen Man
  • Sharpe is promoted

Finish your glass if
  • Sharpe stands in front of a British flag

I suggest that you return to [livejournal.com profile] killalla's Sharpe viewings. Although given that one of my motives is selfish (would be good to see you!), this is a bit of an ill-timed suggestion, because I don't think I'll be there this week. (Note to self: tell [livejournal.com profile] killalla that I won't be there.)

I hope to at some point. Can't make it this week, but next is a possibility, although as always, it's dependent on whether [livejournal.com profile] lanfykins is available, otherwise I can't really get there.

"shirt off" and "lady from Peril" look significantly under0rated acroding to the local fans I've seen... or are they just too common.

We play the "Eurovision" drinking game. Pick a favourite and an outsider. Each time they get a vote, drink - preferably the national drink of that country. The advanced rules allow for a "down in one" or a forfit if "Null points" at a summing up.

how many sips for when a plucky young English lad who's adopted Sharpe as his hero and role model gets shot and killed as a result of something Sharpe's doing ?

hopefully [livejournal.com profile] killalla's rum will make an acceptable brandy substitute...
