Adventures in alternate realities
Back from a glorious weekend playing Maelstrom - many thanks to
damianobf for the immense organisational prowess that made his event probably the most hassle free one I have ever been to from a player perspective - a real boon after what has been a hellishly busy week.
The event itself was fantastic, and as always the quality of roleplay at Maelstrom shone through. The system isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I'm firmly convinced that if you're the kind of person who cares more about interaction than fighting then there is no better system out there at the moment. I seem to have come away once more feeling as though I've largely avoided anything plot based, but there really is enough going on that entirely character based roleplay doesn't leave one bored senseless in the way that roleplay in a vacuum sometimes can. Amélie's religious side got more of an outing (her and Riddle are going to make a terrifying double act, I suspect) and she was eventually forced into a posh frock in a scene that people have apparently said they enjoyed greatly. I wish they'd said it to me - I got second hand reports only - but it does make me glow with pleasure when someone tells me that a scene I played a pivotal role was the highlight of their weekend, as indeed happened as a result of Amélie deciding to exercise a little of that heavily concealed nobility on a misbehaving Franz von Meer (who I think may have been a bit blown away in the light of Amélie's hitherto genial nature).
Got a message from
mr_snips this morning asking me to pop in when I returned, which paniced me slightly. Part of the hecticness of last week involved the transplantation of Nineve from
lanfykins' place, where she had been residing hitherto. Nineve was duly installed for a couple of months sojourn Chez Snips until I get a new place sorted. However, it seems she has not yet emerged from hiding, although she may have had some food. This being Nineve, we now have absolutely no idea where the feline escapologist has gone to ground, so I spent an hour or so wondering round with cat treat in hand to see if I could entice her out. No luck, sadly, but hopefully she will calm down soon and realise that her new enviroment contains nothing more terrifying than the occasional visit from
tea_and_cuddles, which, while often tonsorially disconcerting, should not really be a major cause of feline alarm. Further updates will be available as the situation progresses.

My house is currently filled with arcane cat politics. Chloe has decided she's eating in the kitchen, and I figured that that might help with her interactions with the Fluffs, so I let her.
This resulted in the Fluffs not eating today <sigh>
There has also been a certain amount of cat chess. I wish I knew the rules...
